Kenall, Inc. (Kenall) and Freese and Nichols, Inc. (FNI) entered into an 8(a) mentor-protégé agreement which was approved by the U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) on December 8, 2014. Subsequently, Kenall and FNI formed a joint venture, named the Kenall-Freese and Nichols 8(a) Mentor-Protégé Joint Venture (KFNI JV).
KFNI JV has a proven record of working together on federal projects for clients including the US Army Corps of Engineers (USACE) and the International Boundary and Water Commission (IBWC), and has worked together with many other government and private entities.
Not only has this symbiotic relationship provided us the window for sharing the resources, skills, technical expertise and knowledge, but also has given Kenall an opportunity to strengthen and enhance management capabilities and business acumen. We believe that this mentor-protégé program has made Kenall more competitive in competing for federal contracts.
The JV was recently selected by the USACE Fort Worth District as a winner of a new Small Business Set-Aside IDIQ for Civil Works Services, 8 (a) Set-Aside IDIQ for Military Projects and EDWOSB Set-Aside IDIQ for Construction Phase Services.
Our JV Partner, FNI, is the first engineering firm to receive the most coveted Malcom Baldrige National Quality Award.
